The Truth About Driving

Trooper Ronald Knoefel Informs Students About Safe Driving

by Jennifer K. and Chris H.

October 02, 2007

A short time ago, Rolla High School and Junior High students were visited by Trooper Ronald Knoefel. He is a state trooper from Garden City, KS who travels across the state making presentations. He informed the students about driving safely and the consequences of reckless driving.

The presentation was very graphic, but to the point. He began with a movie made by the Missouri State Police featuring the stories of people affected by traffic accidents. Then he showed some movie clips dramatizing the possibilities of deadly accidents. Afterwards he shared some of his own experiences of dealing with fatal crashes.

For some students this was a catalyst for changing their habits once they enter a vehicle. Others didn't take the information as seriously. Hopefully this will prevent at least one accident. Remember the words of Lyndsay L., "Next time you get in a car, buckle up."
